Camp New Beginnings, our camp ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church, has announced a new scholarship that will enable more campers to attend summer camp. While the cost of operating a camp has risen in recent years, the lasting effect that a week at camp can have on a young person’s life is immeasurable.

Our 2025 camp is quickly approaching—just 33 days until the opening day—and the need for assistance is urgent!

In an effort to alleviate the cost so that more campers can attend, the Camp Scholarship Fund will enable businesses, ministries, or individuals to sponsor a camper by donating to the fund. A tax-deductible contribution of $360, or just $30 a month, will pay for a young person to go to camp. The deadline for contributions that will help campers this year is quickly approaching (June 2nd), but the Camp Scholarship Fund is open for donations year-round, with all funds to be applied to subsequent years.

This is a worthy investment in the next generation. When young people attend camp, there is great potential for God to change their lives in the following ways:

Salvation

Every year, there are young people who receive Christ as their Saviour while at camp. The Gospel is liberally offered during this week. So many can testify of getting their salvation settled while attending camp as a young person.

Surrender

Camp provides ideal conditions for God to deal directly with the young people about His will in their lives. Day-to-day distractions are far away at home, and being surrounded by peers in a Christian atmosphere is an excellent environment for God to speak to these young people. Camp is a perfect place for campers to surrender to what God has for their future.

Character Building

Both the program and the preaching emphasize the need for good character in life. Camp New Beginnings not only shows the obvious need but also provides the instructions from the Word of God to the campers.

Friendship

Throughout the years, my daughters have exchanged correspondence with friends they made while at camp. Even as adults, they have maintained relationships with others whom they never would have met if they had not attended summer camp.

Teamwork

Campers learn valuable lessons in teamwork as they compete all week in various competitions. They learn to work together with their peers and counselors, some of whom they have just met for the first time at camp. These lessons translate to life and ministry.

Growth

Campers grow at camp, maybe not physically in one week’s time, but emotionally, personally, and spiritually for sure. This week away from normal life allows campers to focus on themselves while they receive instruction on how to pursue growth in their own lives.

I am glad to contribute to the CNB scholarship fund, although my own children have aged out of being campers themselves.

My investment in a young person is not only laying up but also leaving behind for the next generation.
